Slovenia to increase VAT rate by 2% on July 1, 2013

As part of a new austerity package agreed by the Slovenian government ,VAT is to be increased from 20% to 22% with effect from July 1 this year.The austerity package was presented to the European Commission on May 10. Slovenia is looking to assure other Member States that it can remain solvent and will not need a bail out similar to that in Cyprus.
